EURO 2012 Fantasy Team Tips: Day 7

So, we’re a week into the tournament, and boy has the tournament shaped up to be an interesting one to say the least. So here are players who you should pick for today’s set of matches.

Realistically, you’re only looking at two teams when it comes to goalkeepers along with defenders. Realistically, Croatia and Republic of Ireland stand very little chance against Spain and Italy. So, you should be putting either Buffon or Casillas between the sticks for your fantasy team. Furthermore, I recommend that you guys put youngster Jordi Alba into your fantasy team. He comes cheap and is a regular in the Spanish starting eleven.

Another players I would recommend would be Italy’s Chiellini. A fantastic defender who did really well against La Furia Roja on Matchday 1, and Italy will be depending on their big centerhalf for this one.

Go for: Casillas/Buffon, Chiellini and Jordi Alba

Here’s where I think Ireland and Croatia have players who can potentially nick some points. In Luka Modric and Aiden McGeady you have two players who are really creative, and can potential get those assists and have that X factor to score goals.

But if you want those big scorers, I guess you will have to look at the likes of Spain’s midfield. In David Silva you have a decent assister, along with scorer, whilst Fabregas does have their only goal so far, so he might be worth investing that money with. Iniesta is also another one I would recommend, much less Xavi.

With Italy, you will want to go for Giovinco or Andrea Pirlo. Giovinco is good at moving forward with the ball and Pirlo is an excellent distributor.

I would recommend you stay away from Spain and Fernando Torres here, as they are far from looking likely to be in the Starting XI for today’s game. The case with Italy is that the strikers do have this rotational policy, and all look like potent attacking threats. I personally think that Cassano is a safe bet for a striker up front, seeing as he is very likely to start.

Ireland – you might want to steer clear and with Croatia you might want to pick their in form striker – Mario Mandžukić, as he opened the scoring on Matchday 1.

  2. I dunno about this. I’d go Pique, Cassilas, Srna and Chielleni
Midfield I’d put Pirlo, McGeady, Fabregas and Xavi
Strikers I’d go Pedro and Keane
